Overview:
The purpose of this work is to review the most frequent acquisition techniques in magnetic resonance angiography for the study of stenosis in the carotid artery caused by arteriosclerosis. The use of techniques that allow the blood flow of stationary tissues to be differentiated allows for a precise diagnosis of the degree of stenosis, either with techniques without intravenous contrast (Time of flight and Phase contrast) or with intravenous contrast (gadolinium). Knowing and calculating the degree of stenosis obtained from the reconstructed images mostly in maximum intensity projection format using the NASCET and/or ECST criteria determines the therapeutic action that must be carried out in order to treat the disease.
